Time is a gift

Today is my youngest daughters birthday.  Shes 32 years old today.  I remember her birth like it was yesterday, like all mothers do.  She was born on 3/13/1993 at 3:13am.  I use to joke about how I was taking her to the casino and having her pick out my numbers on the roulette table. lol  When I look back at all these years one thing becomes more clear to me and that is our most valueable commodity is our time.  In being honest with you I can say that Im not the best at time management. I probably will be late for everything Ive got scheduled. I dont know why Im that way. Its not that I disrespect the person or people Im scheduled to meet, I am just built this way I guess.  No matter how hard I try to be on time, Im late.  My mother use to tell me when I was a child that Ill be late to my own funeral. Shes probably right.  Time has a way of reminding us of what we have not yet done.  Before you know it, you find yourself in a pool of regret if you let it take you that far.  Spending time with someone is the highest form of love you can express to them.  Take for example my aging parents.  If youre fortunate enough to still have your parents around like I am then spending time with them is the highest form of love you can show them.  I love spending time with my parents. I have to compete with six other siblings though and the grand children they have.  When Im able to have the opportunity to spend time with them I soak up every single second with them and the wisdom that they share.  Theres that old saying " The older I get the smarter my parents are" rings so true to me.  I find myself turning to my parents when I am faced with a difficult decisison in my life.  I seek out their wisdom and experiences when I can.  Who do you turn to when you need the wisdom and experiences in life for sound advice?  If you dont have your parents, who do you have? a Pastor at church? A boss at work? A sponsor in a 12 step program? We all have to have that elder in our life to help us in guidance.  Who do you have?  Someone to help you manage your time and choices in life.  Time is a gift, it also can be a thief if your not careful.  Do you have a dream you have always wanted to do? I do.  Writing my memoir on my adoption is something I have always had on my heart and by writing this blog it is moving me one step closer into achieving that dream I have always had.  We are not promised tomorrow and as many times as we may take that gift of tomorrow for granted we are not promised it.  What can you do today with your time to get one step closer to that dream you hold on your heart? Just one little action that will take you one step closer to achieving that dream? Just one action that takes two minutes of your time to get you closer to that dream.  Today, I am writing.  I am writing my blog that will lead to me writing more about my adoption story.  I dont want to let one day go by where I am not taking at least one small step to get closer to that dream being achieved. Baby steps is still moving forward. I dont want to waste any more days not moving towards that dream.  What are you doing today to move one step closer to your dream?
